Collaborate Learn Innovate

Tumbling from one page to another, wandering around those sparkling beauty product sites with the sheer desire of those SKIN GOALS, isn’t this something every other female would do whenever they get time from life woes? Honestly speaking we make time for it in our busiest of schedules! Perhaps lockdown and quarantine being the most used terms all these days, have sucked a lot of our enthusiasm and despite having a lot of time on hand, we may not want to do a lot. So here are some quick and easy hacks to sort your skincare out and cheer you up with that glow from a little bit of self pamper time.

The Basics

First of first and the most important “CONSISTENCY IS THE KEY”. We need to understand that the complicated part isn’t the skincare but the skin. So, you need to know your skin type and stick to a simple routine that suits your skin and includes minimum products as it is well said, little goes a long way. We always have wonderful products in drugstores and its time to make use of them.

The most effective skincare routine is the night skincare regime as the skin heals the most in your sleeping hours and you can make use of this quarantine to get rid of those dark circles and pigmentation.

Dust particles and germs follow you all the way, be it inside your home, and can clog your pores causing The Bob you hate to see in the mirror after waking up.

  1. Clean your face with a mild facewash (concerning your skin type), always remember you facewash is a product formulated to cleanse your face, choose one which does the same efficiently and without stripping off the moisture from your face, expecting wonders from a mere facewash is always going to end with disappointment.
  2. Follow up with a “non-alcoholic” toner. Toners make a clean canvas for the absorption of skincare products and help the products work efficiently. It helps in the better appearance of pores.

For normal to oily skin: Aloe vera gel mixed with a few drops of vitamin e capsule. (It will be easily available in any drugstore)

For dry skin: Massage with sweet almond oil and wash with lukewarm water in the morning.

Tip: sweet almond oil is very effective in treating those koala eyes!

  1. Lip care: No expensive lip balm can do wonders like petroleum jelly and when used at night can leave your lips soft all day long. All you need to do is put a generous amount on your lips before going to bed. We have got this long break from our beloved and forever favorite LIPSTICKS!! Tbh the name itself is enough to get my head turned towards that vanity with those beauties arranged on it. So let’s utilize this time to get rid of that darkening and pigmentation our best friend left us with.

exfoliate your lips with a mixture of a few drops of lemon juice and sugar granules.

Honey+lemon juice will help with the pigmentation.

We all wake up with those puffy eyes after long sessions of binging. Well, there’s really no alternative to a peaceful 7-hour sleep but, we can absolutely fake it till we make it!

You can use all those calming ingredients lying there in your refrigerator,

Tea Bags:

The caffeine present in the tea helps in soothing and reduces the swelling. All you need is an already used tea bag placed in the fridge to cool. Placing it on your eyes will do the wonders.

Cucumber slices kept in the refrigerator helps with the puffiness at the same time it’s also a very good ingredient to treat the sensitive skin under the eye.

Start your day off with cleansing your face with a gentle facewash, follow up with toner and moisturizer. Yes, moisturizing is an essential part of the skincare irrespective of the skin type. choose your moisturizer according to your skin type :

  • GEL BASED: works best for the oily skin
  • OIL-BASED: these are for the dry skin

You might be treating your sunblock as an option since you have to stay home all day but let me tell you sunscreen isn’t a mere skincare product that protects you from sunburns, tan and darkening, it’s a shield in between of your skin and all those UV rays that reach us whether we stay inside the home or sunbathe on a beach. Depletion of the ozone layer has made us all vulnerable to the UV rays which plays quite a significant role in causing skin cancer, put it on be it a cloudy day or raining outside, and while staying in lockdown as well.

  • Sunscreen protects from harmful rays of the sun.
  • It helps in keeping the complexion even.
  • Prevents premature aging.
  • Reduces the chances of skin cancer in a significant amount.

Tip: choose your sunscreen wisely keeping the purpose in mind from chemical and physical. SPF over 30 is recommended, where the ratings are based on 2mg of sunscreen applied per cm square of the body surface.

  • Keep yourself hydrated. Proper sleep and hydration keep you glowing all the way.
  • Always take care of your hands and feet. Moisturize them properly especially your hands in this hour of frequent sanitization.
  • Always do good research before getting products, skincare is so much more than KITCHEN SCIENCE!.
  • Always use a demo/mist whichever suits you after a shower. Smelling good should never be underestimated and is a very good practice in day to day hygiene. People treating this option can prove to be a nightmare for their co-workers /colleagues in a working hour.

That’s all !! Everything included in this article is tried and tested mostly based on real-life experience. Happy Quarantine Skincare everyone!
